Death rates higher for minority pedestrians

Cara Hamann, CPH assistant professor of epidemiology, said fatal pedestrian crashes in the U.S. rose by more than 50 percent from 2008 to 2018, but those increases are not equal when looking by racial group.

Gilbert co-authors post on alcohol and breast cancer connection

Paul Gilbert, CPH associate professor, recently co-authored a blog post about the link between alcohol and cancer. For women, alcohol use is one of the top causes of breast cancer.


In memory: Kathleen McKeen

Kathleen McKeen passed away on Oct. 1, 2021, at the age of 80. She worked in the cancer registry field for 59 years, serving as the director of the Iowa Cancer Registry for more than 36 of those years.
